Almada’s new book: Counterpoint in popular music: theoric fundamentals and compositional applications

capalivroalamada2013Published by UFRJ press, with support of Jose Bonifacio Foundation (FUJB), the main purpose, according to the author, is “to present a theoretical proposal for construction within the polyphonic sufficiently generalized to encompass a wide variety of popular music genres existing as well as suggest some of its practical applications.

The book has a foreword by Roberto Macedo Ribeiro, also a lecturer at the School of Music, and is destined to arrangers and composers in the world of popular music. It is a result of a research project, and part of a trilogy written by the author which includes the books Arrangement (2001) and Functional Harmony (2009).
